History and social studies help our students to develop a greater understanding of how historical events have shaped our nation and our world today. Examining the cultures of our community, and those in distant places, helps to foster an appreciation for the rich diversity of people we may encounter. The decisions we make every day, whether they be economic, political, environmental, or interpersonal, are affected by our understanding of history and culture. As educators, our goal is to provide our students with the information necessary to think critically and make responsible decisions in society.
